Working within the framework of a critical studies curriculum, many of our undergraduates have produced remarkable short films and other creative projects in our specialized and advanced production courses. Beyond traditional film studies: Clark’s screen studies major incorporates the history and theory of television, along with other new forms of digital media. Engage in hands-on, practical, collaborative work in digital video production and make narrative films, experimental films, and/or documentaries. 2009-12-13 Film Studies Major Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies The Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies offers students in-depth education in the disciplinary understanding of film as an aesthetic medium and in the critical analysis of films as cultural objects laden with ideological, racial, and gendered meanings. The Film Studies major concentrates on cinema as an international social practice and shapes its study as a humanistic discipline. Students take core courses to develop a proficiency in film analysis, history, and theory. Courses in early, multicultural, and experimental traditions, as well as electives provide further exploration in the field.

The major in Film Studies provides students with critical skills and multiple perspectives on historical and contemporary media forms.
